(in). Pining for Summer

Fresh faced Kate Moss with such an aura about her.
The Face magazine claims 1990 as 'the 3rd summer of love'. Shot by Corrine Day- 'The Daisy Age'.

Without wanting to 'wish away the days'...summer seems both a remote memory and a very distant glow on the horizon. How unreal that this was twenty years ago, i think we can all agree that we are long overdue a sequel. 2010 = Summer of Love number 4? Probably not, but it would be interesting to see how this look would go down on Skegness Pier.

Feathered crowns at the ready.

(in). "The Dandy I'm sure"

Insolent, cynical, excellent taste and just a little famous.

'My neckcloth, of course, forms my principal care,
For by that we criterions of elegance swear,
And costs me, each morning, some hours of flurry,
To make it appear to be tied in a hurry'

Saint Christopher

Timeless, directional and so desirable (if only to hang on the wall and sigh at...). Christopher Kane's silk cloud print 'mini collection' has been produced, as far as i know, as an exclusive for netaporter.com. Gutsy enough to turn down a job at Versace to commit to his own label, Kane has truly cemented himself as London's wonder kid.

You are the biker jacket of my dreams...

Kane lust all over again.

Italian Housewifery is so (in).

Dolce and Gabbana celebrate all things Italian in their latest campaign featuring a curvacious Madonna. Inspired by Italian neorealism cinema, the images conform to the D&G formula: sex, leopard print, sex. D&G state the adverts seek to capture a woman's 'human side' through the simplicity of daily gestures...........

Steven Klein does what any good fashion photographer should do- creates a mystique fantasy where the impossible becomes possible. The impossible being Madonna washing up, Madonna prepping a hearty Italian feast, Madonna being well...young.

Stefano Gabbana claims to have 'even seen Madonna eat spaghetti!'. Microbiotic diet? Whatevs.

(in). YES to YES

STELLA.

Optimism is all the rage you know.
Models wear the ultimate new accessory: a SMILE. That's right.
How refreshing to see a show with no elements of forced 'drama' about it. The magic Mccartney combination seems to consist of longevity,
wearability and a nack for cutting that is both youthful and
sophisticated.

The search for a high street version of the camouflage wrap around
dress begins...

(in). One of a kind wonders

Printed with distorted CCTV footage, New York collective No Editions has a 'no duplicates, no repetitions' policy and avoids working to the conventional seasons. Simple tunic and poncho shapes allow the translucent, almost luminous quality to be at its most prominent. Ghostlike beauty.

Despite this advert coming from the depths of Playboy 1969, I can't think of a more adorable way of selling slacks...

(in). Lennon lookalikes

Pre his trademark circular glasses, a young John Lennon was all about the Chelsea boot and classic turned up jeans, according to debut director Sam Taylor Wood. 'Nowhere Boy' sees Aaron Johnson depicting Lennon's early years; quiffs and leather jackets signal 50s rock and roll that leads Lennon inevitably up to the birth of the 60s.

Speaking of Chelsea boots. Dear Mr Paul Smith, please make these for women.
Red Suede...pure delight.

(in). Point blank refusal to succumb to S/Ss ever looming CYCLING SHORTS trend.

'Oh you've just come from the gym?!'
Sportswear may be on the rise in the fashion stakes, but frankly a little more Alexander Wang S/S10 and a little less Mr Motivator would be well...kinder.
Yes, Louis Vuitton. Prada. Topshop. American Apparel. February's Vogue have all given the nod of approval however in short..
For the minority: You have a supermodels body. Well done you. Cycling shorts by the dozen.
For the majority: Guaranteed next day regret.
Maybe the same was said about our now faithful staple; the legging, so IF YOU MUST...do like Alexander Wang- luxury, understated and LAYERED.

(in). The 'not so classic' suit

Why stick to black?
Isaach De Bankole in Jim Jarmusch's lastest 'cultural scrapbook' of a film 'The Limits of Control'. When it came to designing the suit Jarmusch comments that De Bankole should '...look like some kind of gangster, in the best sense'. With a subtle metallic sheen and contrasting shirt that wouldn't look out of place at Ozwald Boateng's Savile Row store, these are suits with peacock status'.
